FOOTPRINTS IN THE KALAHARI is the first book in a middle grade adventure series. Two brother, Thomas and Samuel, love travel and animals. When they find their grandfather’s old travel journals they decide to visit where he worked. Their first adventure is at an animal sanctuary in Namibia.

On the farm, the boys and their parents care for horse, donkeys, goats and a mischievous alpaca. They also befriend two young San boys who teach them tracking and desert survival skills.

In Namibia they see stunning landscapes and encounter magnificent animals. A visit to Etosha National Park includes run ins with giraffes, rhinos and lions. They also see evidence of their grandfather’s legacy and visit hospitals where he worked as a doctor.

When a young alpaca goes missing, Thomas and Samuel set out on a daring adventure to find it. The hoof prints lead them into the heart of the Kalahari Desert. Using their new tracking skills they soon discover fresh cheetah prints. Ultimately, they find Romeo, the missing alpaca, and return safely.

In the end, the boys discover traces of their grandfather’s work and people who remember his kindness.

The series, Thomas & Samuel Animal Adventures, combines countries, cultures and creatures.
